European stocks fell for the second day in a row, Tuesday, as investors held back from making big bets in a busy week on political and economic occasions, including a deadline for customs duties that could exacerbate the trade dispute between the United States and China.
And if the world’s two largest economies fail to reach a trade agreement soon, the next round of US tariffs on Chinese imports will enter into force on December 15.
The European Stoxx 600 index fell 0.3 percent by 0804 GMT, as caution also prevailed ahead of general elections in Britain and meetings of central banks in the United States and the euro zone this week.
The heavily influenced German DAX led the losses among the corresponding indices in the region, while the mining and automobile sectors declined.
